No More Chains! L.Boogie Is Free!

Lauryn Hill - Inmate #64600-050
Lauryn Hill was released from prison today after a 3-month sentence for tax evasion. Her attorney says she was released a few days early due to good behavior. However, the songstress/raptress be confined to her home for three months as part of a 1-year probation period.

Also known as L. Boogie, the ex-Fugees member was released early Friday morning from the minimum security Federal Correctional Institution in Danbury, Connecticut. She had been locked up since July 8 after failing to pay taxes on more than $1.8 million in income she earned between 2005 and 2007.

Leading up to her incarceration, L. Boogie cited historical racism as one of the bigger reasons for her tax woes. On a brighter note, she recently inked a deal with Sony and a new record is reportedly in the works.

In addition to her release, she's also marking the occasion with a new single called "Consumerism."
